MONDAY

                                    may all that we do this week

                                    be an offering of love as well as of duty.

                                    Keep us, this day and every day,

                                    in the spirit of kindness, simplicity, and joy;

                                    through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

TUESDAY

Reading -                   Psalm 149

Prayer                         O God, you are the author of peace

                                    and lover of concord.

                                    To know you is eternal life,

                                    to serve you is perfect freedom.

                                    Defend your servants in every stress and danger,

                                    that we may trust in your defence

                                    and not fear the power of any adversaries;

                                    through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.  Amen.

WEDNESDAY

Reading -                   Psalm 150

Prayer -                       Ever present God,

                                    this day enfolds us and surrounds us:

                                    be in our speaking and in our thinking;

                                    be in our life and on our lips;

                                    be in our hearts and in our souls;

                                    today and for ever.  Amen.

THURSDAY

Reading -                   Psalm 119: 1 - 8

Prayer -                      Eternal God,

                                    you have set before us the great hope

                                    that your kingdom will come on earth,

                                    and have taught us to pray for its coming.

                                    Make us ready to thank you

                                    for the signs of its dawning,

                                    and to pray and work for the perfect day

                                    when your will shall be done on earth

                                    as it is in heaven;   through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

FRIDAY

Reading -                   Psalm 119: 9 - 16

Prayer -                      O Christ, the Master Carpenter,

                                    who at the last, through wood and nails,

                                    purchased our whole salvation,

                                    wield well your tools

                                    in the workshop of your world,

                                    so that we who come rough-hewn to your bench

                                    may here be fashioned

                                    to a truer beauty of your hand.

                                    We ask it for your own name’s sake.  Amen.

SATURDAY

Reading -                   Psalm 119: 17 - 24

Prayer -                      God, the well-spring of our life,

                                    pour into our hearts the living water of your grace

                                    that, refreshed by you,

                                    we may live this day

                                    in steadfast reliance on your strength;

                                    through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

SUNDAY

Readings -                 Psalm 119: 25 - 32

Prayer -                      God our Father,

                                    at the first creation

                                    you set the world’s corner-stone in place,

                                    while the morning stars sang together

                                    and the angels of God all shouted for joy.

                                    In the new creation

                                    your grace has dawned upon the world

                                    with healing for all.

                                    May Christ, the sun of righteousness,

                                    shine in our hearts for ever

                                    and draw us to that light

                                    where you live in radiant glory;

                                    through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

                                    Amen.
