AIRDRIE LIBRARY CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

On Thursday, 25th September, the Library celebrated its 100th Anniversary in its current building.

Time Capsule

As part of the celebrations two time capsules were buried under the cherry tree at the bottom of the garden near the entrance.

The first was from the schools project undertaken by the pupils from All Saints and Victoria Schools who were present to bury their time capsule.

The second, was our own time capsule – which contained recent orders of service, a newsletter, an “About us” document, a small BB New Testament and Psalms; a BB Golden Jubilee Badge and Centenary order of service, Prayer Squares, coins of the realm from a 1p coin through to a  £2.00 coin and a USB Stick containing electronic copies of newsletter, orders of service, some photographs as well as some streamed services related to the 30th anniversary celebrated in September.

The Capsule will not be opened until 2125 – with the speed that technology moves today, who knows what communication will be like by that date.

Many thanks to those from the congregation who came along for the ceremony and participating in the tea / coffee and cake.  We also enjoyed our first experience of an immersive room seeing on hand the project work.

Thanks also extended to the excavators and fillers of the time capsule hole.
